Large Volume Breast Augmentation

Large breast implants add generous size and contour to any woman's frame. Because big breast implants come in a variety of sizes, and because every size will produce different results on different women, careful thought and consultation with a highly qualified breast implant expert are necessary to achieve optimal results.

Selecting the proper size of large breast implants to achieve desired results requires careful consideration. While 600cc to 700cc breast implants will bring most breasts to at least a DD size, for many women this is not enough. Women who want to make a statement select 750cc, 800cc, 900cc, and even 1000cc breast implants. If one is considering large breast implants, choose a breast implant surgeon who has extensive experience placing large breast implants. The doctor should be able to show before-and-after photographs of women who have had breast augmentation to size DD, as well as women who have had 800cc to 1000cc breast augmentation; so that can get an idea of the change that large, breast implants will bring to the body. The doctor should also fully describe the potential risks and complications from breast implants, and the physical impact that big breasts implants have. Only after fully understanding how the look and the physical considerations of the larger breast implant sizes should the patient proceed with surgery. Increasing breast size is the primary reason most women choose to undergo breast enhancement surgery. Large breast implants, such as those used in DD cup breast augmentations, are ideal for women who desire a dramatic change in the contour of their bodies.

Patients who request disproportionately large breast size from breast implant surgery must consider that such a choice can place them at risk for a less than optimal long term outcome and the need for re-operation and additional expenses. The placement of excessively-sized breast implants exceeds the normal dimensions of the breast, produce irreversible tissue thinning, implant drop out, visible/palpable rippling, and implants that are too close together at the center of the chest (synmastia). Large volume primary augmentation or revision with larger sized implants (>350cc) may increase the risk of complications such as implant extrusion, hematoma, infection, palpable implant folds, and visible skin wrinkling requiring surgical intervention to correct these complications.
